Detailed description of Mission Hills Country Club
Mission Hills Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Northbrook, Illinois.
Mission Hills Country Club opened for play in 1926. The course was designed by Leonard Macomber. The course has only one original Macomber hole (No. 12) still remaining. Charles Dudley Wagstaff, added 9 holes to Macomber's original design. Mission Hills Country Club as it appears today, is the result of a complete redesign by the Edward Lawrence Packard and son, Roger Packard in 1975.
This flat and tight course features many dogleg fairways. The course is tree lined and well bunkered, and water hazards come into play on thirteen holes.
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,180 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,171 yards and plays to a par-72. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 568 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 140 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 4, a 430 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Mission Hills Country Club is # 15, the short 146 yard par-3.

Loved the course even though it was tight with many houses. the staff may be the best in the area.

Tight course with smallish greens, not very long. Overall conditions were pretty good, greens were quick. Meanders through a retirement community and there are a number of houses along numerous holes. CC now allowing some play to the public. Worth a try with a discounted greens fee.
$61 (cart included), played on Monday, June 2011 at noon
A tight and narrow layout, not for high handicappers who spray the ball.

For a course that used to be exclusive and private I was not impressed. The course is short and narrow. It is challenging but the tee boxes and greens were in poor shape. The course winds through the retirment community which really detracts from the ambiance. The best aspect was the price which was $26 per person with cart from Groupon.
